The Best News…

There are four realizations a person must understand to have a personal relationship with God.

The first realization is for a person to know and accept that they are a sinner and that their sin has separated them from God. In Romans 3:23, God’s word says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” The little three letter word ‘all’ is BAD NEWS for all of us. ‘All’ means all. None of us can count on our goodness to get us a personal relationship with God because we have all sinned and our sins have separated us from God.

The second realization is that we understand that we can do nothing to remove our sin on our own. THIS IS BAD NEWS. No matter how good we might manage to be or how good we think we are, the Bible says that salvation does not come to man by his being good, trying hard, or doing the best that he or she can. In Ephesians 2:8, God’s Word says, “For by [God’s] grace are you saved through faith, and this is not of your own doing. It is the [free] gift of God.”

The third realization is that on the cross Jesus did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. This is GOOD NEWS. In I John 1:7 it says, “He, [Jesus] died on a cross and shed His blood for our sins.” Jesus could die for our sins because He was sinless. Though a man, He lived a perfectly sinless life that qualified Him to die on a cross to pay the penalty for our sin.

The fourth realization is that through faith we freely receive forgiveness for our sins and eternal life as a gift from God. That is the BEST NEWS. Once again in the Bible, Romans 6:23 reads this way, “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

To have a personal relationship with God all anyone has to do is to put their faith into Him as their Lord and Savior. You offer God your faith and He offers you forgiveness and eternal life.

The Bible promises in Romans 10:9 that “…if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

If you would like to start a relationship with Jesus, pray a prayer like this: “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and want to be forgiven. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe that He is alive today and living with You in heaven. I now turn away from my sin and to Your Son and confess Him as my Lord and Savior. I receive Him into my life. Take  control of my life and accept my thanks for giving me eternal life through Jesus Christ, Your son.”
